Biographies On Our Personnel
Jill Gizzio
Jill Gizzio, founder and president of ShopByBreed, holds a Bachelor’s
of Science Degree in Biology and Secondary Education Certification from
Eastern University in Saint Davids, Pennsylvania. Jill is a nine year veteran
of the pet industry, owning three successful pet dot com companies -- DogToys.com,
CatToys.com and RetailPets.com. She started the businesses in her home,
and over the last decade, their growth has required three warehouse expansions.
As Jill analyzed the web statistics from her internet companies, she was astounded to learn that more pet owners shopped by breed than brand, size and type of product – combined. Armed with this insight, Jill did her homework and her research, and she developed the ShopByBreed concept to size products for specific breeds. Jill’s educational background gave her the basis to develop the scientific criteria for the unique sizing system. Coupled with her understanding of the intuitive buying behaviors by pet owners, the retail challenges faced by independent pet stores, and lack of sizing consistency among manufacturers, Jill knew there would be safety benefits for not only the pet – her priority – but also advantages for pet owners, retailers and manufacturers. As ShopByBreed's Founder and President Jill’s plans include on-going
research for other species of pets and a roll-out of the ShopByBreed merchandising
system in multiple channels. Her first hand experience with retail pet stores’ buying behaviors and knowledge about dog owners’ concerns provides her with valuable background to conduct ShopByBreed research. As ShopByBreed's Director of Research, Nikki has worked extensively in
classifying the scientific criteria used to establish the ShopByBreed
patent. She headed the research used to develop mathematical formulas
for evaluating products suitable for each breed size. Nikki's current
research includes working with manufacturers to analyze their existing
product line and identify redundancy as well as gaps in their product
mix. New product development is an important component of ShopByBreed's
ongoing research. Her marketing and brand experience includes launching national brands in the caged and wild bird food, turf seed, chemical and organic industries through independent retailer, home improvement and mass merchant channels. Dee’s business expertise in growing lawn and garden companies from regional to national status brings valuable branding and strategic planning skills to ShopByBreed. As ShopByBreed's Marketing Director, Dee has led the company out of the
laboratory and into the public domain sculpting the science of ShopByBreed
into a concrete brand with clearly defined benefits for the manufacturer,
retailer and consumer. Continued brand development and collaboration with
manufacturers’ and retailers’ brands are important components
of ShopByBreed’s strategic growth.
